I have taken your yeses and maybes on dates for the Sydney Summery Meetup, and it turns out that by just one, the 9th is the best date for the most people. I am so sorry to therefore be leaving out those of you who can’t make it on that date. Another time!
We’ll meet at the south end of Coogee Beach, under the awning, at 3pm (hopefully the worst of the sun will be over). tigtog has madeĀ a rather amazing accessibility map of amazement. Thanks very much to her, wow.
Do come along if you can, the Sydney femoblogosphere is full of such a lovely bunch of people. And let me know if you’re coming!
Huh… actually I’m almost certain I can make the afternoon of the 9th. So count me in! Plus baby. He just can’t leave me alone.
I will probably be there, although I won’t make an ironclad guarantee because, you know, January family things happen too.
(btw, the two links you’ve got to Hoyden and to the map kinda run together up there)
Grrrr, I thought I’d closed that tag. Thanks.
I am keen to meet all the fabulous fem bloggers. Count me in.
So there!
I shall wave at you from the New Zealand coast.
+1 !!
I’m in the maybe camp for that day — depends on how recovered I feel from my own NZ trip!
I’m there …. potentially plus other half
I am planning to come (I mostly lurk at HAT), and may be bringing a friend too.
The weather forecast for Sunday is looking not too bright, although I’m hoping we might manage to meet between gust of showers.
Might I suggest Barzura cafe as a wet weather alternative meeting point? They’re at the south end of the beach near the Life Saving Club and street parking, they’ve got nice ocean views, and they’ll probably have plenty of room on a wet Sunday arvo.
The forecast is for rain: I assume this is OK with the awning?
Sunday 9 January
Min 22
Max 26
Rain developing.
Metropolitan area
Cloudy. Areas of rain developing. The chance of thunderstorms from midday. Winds southeasterly averaging up to 25 km/h.
tigtog: it is wheelchair accessible, yes? In that case, if we turn up and under the awning isn’t feasible, for sure.
Chally: I must admit I haven’t done a full acessibilty analysis. My memory is that there is seating on the pavement under a waterproof verandah thingy, and that the main entrance is either fully accessible or is accessible with minor assistance from staff or companions over a minor lip. So far as accessibile waterproof venues in the area go, it’s at least on par.
Cheers. :)
I checked their website location page and also rang them to ask a few more questions.
The manager said that they have not yet upgraded the toilets to be fully accessilbe (women’s loo has a couple of stairs up to it), but the front access has only a very small lip that most wheelchairs can easily manoeuvre, and they’re always happy to do a bit of table rearranging to accommodate disabled customers.
Sorry I won’t make it – not quite back from OS yet. But I hope it doesn’t rain on you, and you have a lovely day.
Thanks, orlando, and I’m sorry for the timing.
tigtog, you’re a legend!!
