Folks, I’m bringing Music Monday back, because I am enjoying seeing how songs slot into my soul.
Today, Sachal Orchestra, a new jazz group comprised of some of Pakistan’s finest musicians, has covered The Dave Brubeck Quartet’s “Take Five”. It’s one of the best covers of anything you’ll ever hear. As Elizabeth Flock at The Washington Post reports, classical Pakistani musicians have been significantly under-recorded of late, but ‘Sachal Orchestra promises to change all that, using a sitar, tabla and violin.’ Here’s the official video, which is simply of the musicians recording “Take Five” in a studio.
Thanks to kairia for introducing me to this group. I’ve been finding this song highly uplifting.
