This heart-shaped pose made my day.
Our favourite redheads are settling in fine. Pepper looks politely puzzled when people start singing the Peppa Pig theme song at her, and Cardamom takes comparisons to Christina Hendricks with great grace.
Cardie thinks the absolute world of my mother, and refuses to direct her attention elsewhere if she’s nearby. My mother took these photos, hence the willingness to pose. Pepper, however, is a little shy…
But, you know, I’ve been putting a whole lot of effort in by way of making my Pepper feel safer and happier. And it has really paid off. She seems a lot more confident and content. We’re having lovely long cuddles during which I put her on my chest and she gazes quite happily into my eyes – until she wants to burrow back into my elbow! She also enjoys being held upright and being gently swung through the air. (The hold I’m using, if you’re worried, is one I researched, and supports her hindquarters with one hand and her chest with the other, holding one forepaw between two fingers so that she’s secure.) I am quite happy to be The Human Swing, and even more happy to see Pepper finally settling and learning to trust a human.
