Synchronised pigging.
Cardamom is sitting with her behind pointed to the bottom right of the shot and her nose to the top right. Pepper is sitting in the curve of Cardamom's side in the same pose. They are both guinea pigs with vibrant red colouring, and Cardie is bigger than Pepper.

This heart-shaped pose made my day.
Pepper and Cardamom have their noses pressed together and their hindquarters apart, and the effect is of their forming a heart shape. They are both guinea pigs with vibrant red colouring, and Cardie is bigger than Pepper.

Our favourite redheads are settling in fine. Pepper looks politely puzzled when people start singing the Peppa Pig theme song at her, and Cardamom takes comparisons to Christina Hendricks with great grace.
A close up of Cardamom and Pepper, the former to the left of the screen with her back right foot splayed out, and her daughter to the right, sitting quite demurely. They are both guinea pigs with vibrant red colouring, and Cardie is bigger than Pepper.

Cardie thinks the absolute world of my mother, and refuses to direct her attention elsewhere if she’s nearby. My mother took these photos, hence the willingness to pose. Pepper, however, is a little shy…
Cardamom faces the right of the shot, shielding the head of Pepper, who is sitting perpendicularly behind her mother's head. They are both guinea pigs with vibrant red colouring, and Cardie is bigger than Pepper.

But, you know, I’ve been putting a whole lot of effort in by way of making my Pepper feel safer and happier. And it has really paid off. She seems a lot more confident and content. We’re having lovely long cuddles during which I put her on my chest and she gazes quite happily into my eyes – until she wants to burrow back into my elbow! She also enjoys being held upright and being gently swung through the air. (The hold I’m using, if you’re worried, is one I researched, and supports her hindquarters with one hand and her chest with the other, holding one forepaw between two fingers so that she’s secure.) I am quite happy to be The Human Swing, and even more happy to see Pepper finally settling and learning to trust a human.

Chally, wearing a blue dress with an orange top over it, pale and bespectacled, with a curly plait hanging over the front of her shoulder, is holding Pepper upright. The sun is shinging on little ginger Pepper's nose, and she looks reasonably content.
